Domain Authority, often shortened to DA, is a metric developed by Moz. The score is on a scale from 1 to 100 and helps you compare domains based on their link profile data.
How to interpret Domain Authority?
A higher score means the domain is modeled to have greater potential for visibility than a domain with a lower score. The indicator is best used for comparisons with direct competitors and observing the trend over time.
Domain Authority is not a Google ranking factor. Therefore, a change in the result does not necessarily mean an identical change in position. The evaluation of the SEO strategy should also take into account organic traffic, visibility of important phrases, content quality and the number of conversions.
Meaning of the concept
The concept of Domain Authority is worth understanding in relation to the specific purpose of the company and the user’s needs. Its importance may vary depending on the industry, project scale and tools used. Therefore, before implementation, it is necessary to determine what problem is to be solved.
Application in practice
Working with Domain Authority should include analyzing the initial situation, defining responsibility and selecting a measurable result. It is worth carrying out activities in stages and documenting the most important decisions. This facilitates the assessment of effectiveness and subsequent development of the project.
The most common mistakes
The most common mistake is using Domain Authority without matching the recipient or business process. Another problem is the lack of data, too quick assessment of effects and leaving the solution without a person responsible for maintenance. Each implementation should have an owner and clear quality criteria.
